| Information on the pomological characteristics of the olive cultivars is very limited. In some studies realized, sufficient amount of pomological data, which would be helpful in dicriminating cultivars, have not been given except some restricted characteristics. In this study, the characteristics of domestic and foreign cultivars cultivated in Aegean Region have been determined and characterized. By this way it was aimed at defining cultivars correctly which would be used in the future studies.
18 domestic and 8 foreign cultivars have been taken in hand and the measurements related to leaves, fruits and stones have been determined. Characterization of the cultivars has been realized by these data. The cultivars have also been classified according to the criteria such as fruit size, oil percentage, etc.
Some morphological characteristics have been determined by photographs as complementary to the biometrical factors. |
