| In this project, the adaptation abilities of the selected Mediterranean olive cultivars (Arbequine, Ayvalık, Carolea, Cobrancosa, Manzanilla, Picholine, Soury and Gemlik(‘Trakya’ origin)) were searched under irrigated and unirragated conditions in Kemalpaşa town/İzmir between the years of 1990 and 1998.
The results showed that all the cultivars taken into consideration have almost behaved the same as in their origins.
Soury was determined as the cultivar having low yield, the lowest oil content and also the most sensitive cultivar to cold weather.
Irrigation provided early bearing of cultivars, the increase of their yields and improved some oil properties. |
