This research was handled in order to investigate the endocarp which is one of the factors that causes low percentage of germination by inhibiting seed germination of olive by reason of decreasing seedling yield as a result of softening the endocarp by applying various treatments and besides these, treatment with a certain hormone (GA3) and to investigate the physiological relations of the olive seeds with germination. The seeds of Memecik, Domat, Ayvalık and Frantoio varietis were used as materials. Experiments were carried out throughout 4 years in hot seed beds according to randomised plot experiment system. Evaluations brought up that Memecik variety gave the best germination value, following this Frantoio, Ayvalık and Domat varieties respectively, and soaking in water, acid, acid+hormone treatments that were applied to the seeds were the most effective treatments.
