| This research was established on the basis of relationship between soil and leaf nutrient content, and carried out in order to show the effects of the fertilizers applied through the soil and the foliage on the leaf nutrient content, and on the other hand, to find out the correlation between the fertilization and the crop quality and quantity.
20 years old productive trees of Memecik variety which are growing in wide scale in the Aegean Region for both oil and table use were the materials.
In this trial, No, N1, N2, dosages of nitrogen and Po, P1 dosages of phosphorus and Ko, K, and K2 dosages of potassium fertilizers were applied in 18 different combinations. Both of N and P were given via the soil or foliage in various forms in order to investigate if they have different effects on the yield.
For this purpose yield per tree, the weight of 100 fruits, fruit/stone weight ratio and percentage of oil content were determined and in addition to that, N, P, K, Ca and Mg values of tha leaf samples taken in the winter dormancy period were recorded.
Certain differences in the yield were found between the different fertilizer combinations applied through the leaf and the soil. The best result was obtained from the combinations wich contained three nutrients in the each of two different methods.
More over both of these affected on the N, K and Ca content of the leaf but have no effect on their P and Mg contents.
Olive samples harvested from Memecik variety trees fertilized with 18 fertilizer combinations were extracted in oleodoser; olive oils were obtained.
Physical, chemical and quality characteristics of these oil were analysed and, by evaluating the results statistically some important correlations between fertilizer and quality of olive oil were determined.
It was determined that high dose nitrogen had negative effect. Potassium had positive effects on the oils obtained from Memecik variety. |
