| The aim of this project was to determine the suitable training shapes in olive cultivation. With this aim, Memecik cultivar was used and the following training shapes were tested starting from sapling stage.
vase shape with long trunk (control)
vase shape with short trunk
free crown shape with short trunk
As the result, those findings were obtained:
-Any important statistical differences were not found among the applications. It can be said that this case originated from not doing excess cuts in young plants that retards starting of fruit set.
-Some differences among the amounts of pruning residues obtained from control trees trained in short trunked free crown shape with short trunk were determined although they were not statistically important. Free shape with short trunk produced the best growth and yield and it was followed by the others. |
