Hazırlayanlar : Özgül CANÖZER Belgin AYKAS S. Sevtap ÖZGEN
This study realized in Olive Research Institute-Bornova in 1994 and 1995. Aim of this work was to determine the most convenient nutrient media and sampling seasons producing of olive trees with tissue culture. Nodiums of olives like Ayvalık, Gemlik Memecik and Domat as explants are cultivated in OM (Olive medium) MS (Murashige/Skoog), KH (Knopp-Heller), W (White) and N (Nitsch) media at spring, summer, autumn and winter seasons. Obtained results are: At the end of 8. cultivation weeks the best results as % living explant are obtained in OM and W media at every season. The other media are not found acceptable for olive because of browning at early period. Olive medium is found out as the best medium for detecting four olive types. May, June and July are seen as the most convenient seasons to continue in vitro liveliness of explants. Browning and contaminations cause large problems in olive tissue culture studying. This situation affects the repeatability of results. So, we realized the opinion that we need detailed experiments with a certain olive cultivar.
