| Different trails were performed in this project by using plant growth regulators between 1989 and 1996, so as to reduce the severty of alternate- bearing by means of regulating flower bud formation in olives.
A single Ethephon ( CEPA) and four concentrations of Gibberrellic acid (GA3) were applied at different stages in 1991/92 and 1994/95. Treatments were planned in Randomized Blocks Desing System, with three replications as each tree is a parcel.
At the end of the statistical analyses, it was determined that Ethepton did not seem hopeful in reducing alternate - bearing, while GA3 gave positive results in diminishing alternate-bearing generally in its higher concentrations ( 300 and 400 ppm ) and in earlier applications (October, November, December). |
